Character submission for #MonsterAcademy
Name: Sasha J. Ramsey
Age: 19 years
Monster type/species: Human - of the witching variety
Trained weapons: The pen is mightier than the sword, except when you're hand to hand with a viper, by which then a pen is outright useless. Honestly? Sasha doesn't wield more than a ritual athame, and even then, it's for nonviolent purposes.

Weakness: Her primary weakness lies in her own humanity. She is extremely susceptible to injury, which is marred further by her own aggressive nature. Simple truth: chica can't throw a punch. In social interactions, her arrogance and inexperience make her easy to instigate and push into anger.
+ As long as she concentrates and the air is raw, palpable, humid, Sasha can evoke electricity and manipulate it into small spheres and short arcs, able to control it for a minute at at a time. During times of emotional stress, she is statically charged and shocking to the touch, which makes her experience with technology not so savvy.
+ Her above average IQ leads her to have a knack for learning and applying her knowledge for problem solving.
+ Sasha is aware of the vibrations of energy in the air, marking her a minor empath whose mental shields have yet to be developed - because of this, she is prone to picking up extreme emotions from others, adding to the pitfall of stressors she already embraces.
+ Due to a childhood focus, Sasha has a penchant for dance and athletic pursuits such as running and softball; she has an admiration of parkourists and their movement through space, and would one day like to achieve proficiency in such a skill.
+ Embroidery and needlework are skills of the girl's, inherited from spending hours with her grandmother as a kid. She'll never tell you though, almost embarrassed to admit she's got a knack for threads.
+ In all her years, Sasha has learned that treats win favors and ease bad feelings, so she picked up baking sweets in the form of pastries and cakes.
Personality: A peeling myriad of layers comprise the psyche of this affluent young woman, whose intelligent begets arrogance, and whose arrogance stems from stellar circumstance. She is born with Leo as her ascending sign, making her a flaunt and a social deviant, a natural leader and fierce personality. She is sanguine, superficially strong, but hardly prepared to embrace relationships more meaningful than that of acquaintances - there is no time for play, only the success of her projects, and unless she find a way off this train, she's bound for high stress and stellar grades. Sasha has a loud laugh and a high energy approach to life, although sometimes her patience for others is a little withering.
Character's Background: The fourth generation descendent of a magician and a wind elemental, Sasha has known nothing but the prim and pomp of her family's pride; she is the daughter of a well-to-do business man and his heritage witch of a wife, and with her younger brother in tow, she has known nothing but the safety of her home, a good fight for the front seat, and her own room. Suffering? Not her thing. It's never been her thing, only the succor of success and the hard earned accolades of meeting deadlines and acing tests. In her youth, she was a dancer - ballet and ballroom, with a short venture into jazz - but her devotion dwindled as she came to terms with her passion for argument and debate.
Some might have said she had a sparking personality -- well, it was certainly no lie. The girl has always had an electricity to her, a sort of static charge that made her bounce. It was her threaded connection to the elements manifesting, showing up at first in the hormonal torment of her early teens, and tempering with her mother's guidance into some degree of rejuvenation, an association to the spirit. It was probably one of the most difficult things in her life, trying to comprehend this difference in feeling, perception, understanding. It was way worse than acne, in her book.
With her matron's instruction, she came to understand a guttural approach to things, instinct and energy, the flow and accepting one's place; that didn't make her patient, oh gods no, but it opened up the doors to feeling beyond her skin and into the aether, an awareness that activated the awakening of latent abilities. She eventually meandered out of normal public schools and into the private tutoring of her family and fellow like-minded individuals, but it wasn't enough. Gods, it would never be enough. Even if she was acceptable as a high school graduate with high accolades, she couldn't help but feel like there was something more to it, more to understand and utilize.
That's when the acceptance letter came, out of nowhere and into her mailbox one afternoon. Her father held disdain at the thought of his little girl venturing into such a strange place, but it was ultimately her mum who had the final say -- after all, "she's the one into that hokey business anyway."
